President Clinton launched  Clinton Global Initiative University(CGI U) in 2007 to engage the next generation of leaders on college campuses around the world.

Each year, CGI U hosts a meeting for students, national youth organizations, and university officials to discuss solutions to pressing global issues. The Clinton Global Initiative University Focus on five main areas Education.Energy, Climate Change, Global Health Peace and Human Rights.

CGI U is more than just an event. It is a growing community of young leaders who don't just discuss the world's challenges - they take real, concrete steps toward solving them a specific plan of action that addresses a pressing challenge on their campus, in their community, or in a different part of the world.

Commitments range from installing energy-efficient light bulbs to establishing campus bike share programs, from distributing life-saving water filtration kits to designing medical backpacks for nomadic doctors in Africa. Since the inaugural meeting, nearly 1,000 commitments have been made by students around the world. From presidents to academics, from the boardroom to the classroom, CGI U members from all walks of life are creating positive change.

CGI U is proof that young people have the power to make a significant impact by confronting some of the world's most urgent challenges.

Bikes for Africa Initiative committed to the Clinton Global Initiative University in 2009 to send thousands of bikes from the United States to Africa. Within a month after the launch of the program, over 1000 bikes have already been mobilized for shipment to Africa. Our international work seeks to link adult and youth activists in the United States with autonomous transportation projects in countries in Africa providing commuters, students, teachers, health workers etc. with tens of thousands of recycled and refurbished bicycles, backed up by local Bikes Innovation Centers –- the core infrastructure to ensure bicycle use can continue and grow as a viable transportation choice.
